There’s no sting in the tail of this Scorpion tank driving and firing experience – just tons of fun! This is your chance to drive and fire a genuine ex-Forces tank at this showground venue near Rugby.

For a tank, the Alvis Scorpion it is extremely light, weighing in at a ‘mere’ 8 tonnes. Its small size means two of them can be loaded onto a Hercules aeroplane. And indeed many Scorpions were sent out this way to war zones in Iran-Iraq, the Gulf and the Falklands.

Their prowess is their agility and size. Quickly deployable in a battlefield, the Scorpions often led the way in hostile zones, before the big tanks could get there. Each tank rolled with a crew of three and was armed with a 76mm main gun, a 7.62mm turret gun and twin smoke grenade dischargers.

On these Scorpion driving and firing experiences you’ll be doing just that as a duo. One of you will be the nominated driver, whilst the other fires the gun.

Of course it’s not real ammunition you’ll be firing, but the gun makes all the right noises and has all the special effects!  It’s also worth noting that the driver’s hatch on a Scorpion tank is very small (51cm x 39cm oval), so it can be a bit of a squeeze getting inside and into the driving position, especially with the crew seats and periscope in there too.

What’s Included

• Alvis Scorpion Tank experience for two people
• One person will drive the tank for 20-25 minutes on a purpose built multi-terrain track under full tuition from an expert instructor
• The other person will be the gunner firing on the target from the 76mm cannon
• The firing is simulated but extremely loud bangs, fire and smoke are all in plentiful supply!
• Spend around 30 minutes in the tank and allow approximately one hour on site for this experience

• Dates and session times are subject to availability
• Please note due to popularity it is recommended you book well in advance to avoid disappointment, weekends especially get booked up very quickly

Suitable For

• Minimum age 18 for driving (full driving licence required)
• Minimum age 12 for the gunner
• Height restrictions: Minimum 4ft 6ins, maximum 6ft 4ins
• Participants should have a good, general fitness level and be able to climb in and out of the vehicle
• Not suitable for those with epilepsy, heart complaints or during pregnancy
